This historic looking pier in Southsea offers typical seaside attractions during the summer, indoor amusements, souvenir shops, and children's funfair and even two function rooms. Although the pictures above were taken on a rough October morning, there were many people fishing and people strolling along the Pier. Building started in 1875 and finished three years later. It has survived heavy bombing and two serious fires in the 1960s and 1970s. It is now owned by three businessmen who pledged to restore it as it is in much need of restoration. It is a classically British designed Victorian architecture and should be preserved for the future.
On the way out of the pier after walking with my wife and dog. I did see a notice reading no dogs or pictures, we were not the only dog walkers on the pier. I only hope these rules are more relaxed during winter.
