Pebble Prominent Moth Andy

Strange shape of a Pebble Prominent larvae

Pebble Prominent  Moth (Notodonta Ziczac)

This moth is often found in my mercury moth trap, but in the wild I often see the strange looking larvae feeding on Sallow they will also feed on willow and poplar. I also have photographed many different colour forms of the larvae, there are two generations a year. This moth is very well camouflaged on a branch with its pebble-shaped markings from where it gets its name.
