Cauliflower Fungi Andy

Cauliflower fungus (Sparassis crispa)

This interesting parasitic fungus feeds mainly on the roots of pine trees it resembles a cauliflower from which it gets its name. I filmed this one under the very tall trees along Rhinefield Ornamental Drive in the New Forest and have seen this fungus growing in the same place for many years, but I am usually too late. The fungus I have filmed is mature, a few days later it will look a soggy mess. Edible and fairly common in the United Kingdom.
