Bedstraw Hawk moth Pupae

Bedstraw Hawk moth  (Hyles gallii)

This attractive immigrant hawk moth is a frequent visitor especially the south of England and coastal localities in the UK,  moths are found attracted to lights. The caterpillars which are green or brownish with bright yellow spots are sometimes found feeding on bedstraw or willowherb. There is only one generation a year in this country, the moths in my pictures were brought as pupae from an insect show. They are often available from collectors, butterfly farms and insect stockists on the web. I hope to rear them from eggs one day for my photography.
