I have been very fortunate to win two categories in the prestigious BBC Wildlife Competition. They put on quite a show at the Natural History Museum for the winners and as my first award ceremony in 1992. Winning the Insect category which was presented by a naturalist, author, television presenter and zoo-keeper Lee Durrell MBE. Who is best known for her conservation work at the famous Jersey Zoological Park. Lee Durrell is also the honorary director of the Durrell Wildlife Trust in Jersey. My award was signed by the late Gerald Durrell OBE (1925-1995) Conservationist and wildlife author. My wife sat next to Gerald Durrell when having our candlelit dinner under the large skeleton of a Dinosaur which is the centerpiece as you walk in, something I shall never forget. My second award ceremony was in 2000 winning British Wildlife category presented by Wildlife presenter and primate scientist Charlotte Uhlenbroek.
